We have 4 spots available for public interest in shallow water lifeguard training. Register now to secure your spot. The training is blended learning with about 8-16 hours of required online learning. You must complete the online learning before you attend the in person training on May 23rd and 24th. In person training involves classroom and hands on training in the pool. The online and in person training both have final tests to pass the class: no refunds will be given if you do not pass the class. You will be given all the skills and knowledge necessary to pass. A swim test must be completed before starting in person training: Swim 100 yards continuously and then tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs (you may float on your back). Complete a timed event within 50 seconds by starting in the water...swim 20 yards, submerge to a depth of 4 to 5 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and walk or swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and exit the water without using steps or a ladder. We encourage you to practice the swim test ahead of time and the lifeguard on duty can help explain the prerequisites.
